Refurbishment Bellevue Palace – gmp Plans the Refurbishment of the Official Residence of the Federal President in Berlin
Architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners (gmp) have been commissioned to refurbish Bellevue Palace in accordance with the requirements of a preservation order. The palace is to be comprehensively refurbished as part of the overall project for the estate of the Office of the Federal President.
Bellevue Palace is located on the edge of Berlin's Tiergarten directly on the Spree River. It was built between 1784 and 1787 according to plans by Michael Philipp Boumann as a summer residence for the Prussian Prince August Ferdinand. The listed building has been rebuilt several times in its more than 250-year history. The reconstruction and, above all, the interior fittings from the late 1950s still characterize the building today.
