Architekten von Gerkan, Marg und Partner
Architecture 2007–2011, vol. 12
Volume 12 of the monograph series covering the complete works of gmp documents a selection of projects implemented between 2007 and 2011 worldwide. This productive period included many of our most famous buildings, such as the Chinese National Museum in Beijing, the Hanoi Museum, the China Maritime Museum in Lingang New City near Shanghai, and the Grand Theaters in Chongqing and Qingdao. The richly illustrated volume features 59 projects that range from the stadiums constructed in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, and Durban, South Africa, for the 2010 World Cup to the future use concept for Berlin Tegel Airport. What they all share in common is the unifying and grounding spirit of gmp, based on Meinhard von Gerkan's guiding principle: “Our ideal is to design things that are simple enough to maintain programmatic relevance and preclude obsolescence.”
