Locations
gmp has offices at seven locations ― in Hamburg, Berlin, Aachen, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hanoi. Our biggest offices are located in Hamburg, where the practice started out, and in Berlin. When we are involved in international projects, gmp Hamburg and gmp Berlin closely cooperate with our branches in China and Vietnam. In addition to the large branches, we operate temporary offices on location when necessary for large international projects, such as in the case of the stadium projects in Brazil and South Africa. Overall, over 500 people from more than 50 countries work for gmp worldwide.
Hamburg office: in 1990, the head office of the practice at Elbchaussee was built as an extension of an existing building to a design by gmp. The building’s shape is reminiscent of an ocean liner that is placed perpendicular to the River Elbe opposite the Port of Hamburg.
Berlin office: gmp Berlin has been in existence since 1993. From 2006, the Berlin branch has been based at the listed building by Paul Schwebes at Hardenbergstrasse close to Ernst-Reuter-Platz in the Charlottenburg district.
Shenzhen office: the breathtaking skyline forms the background during work. The branch has been in existence since 2004.
Rio de Janeiro: one of our many project branches was in Rio where ― in 2014 ― we designed the stadiums for Belo Horizonte, Manaus, and Brasília.

In our model archive we store more than 2000 models from over 50 years of gmp history, from Berlin-Tegel Airport to Kunsthalle Mannheim. They document not only the development of the practice, but also how model-building construction methods and materials have changed and become refined over the years. Our image archive comprises over 50,000 digital and subsequently digitalized images. In addition, about 10,000 slides and 15,000 microfilms of drawings are kept in storage.
Model-building workshop: our model-building workshop has been going for as long as gmp itself and, since the 1980s, has been managed by trained model builders. The workshop premises are at Rainvilleterrasse in Hamburg; the workshop is mainly tasked with presentational and competition models.
